My work has always been about energy - the exchange of energy, the transformation of energy and the metamorphic state.

Oil paint has been a consistent medium, it tends to be very visceral and a lot about the paint. Although the work has been almost exclusively figurative, I don't use models, rather the imagery comes out of the large random, gestural abstract strokes I begin with on the canvas, nothing planned! It has been important for my process to be able to change and move with the figures and paint that appear through a time space continuum as the process dictates.

The paintings represent a deep resolve of mine to pare back to the core of being; to get lost in it, to share it, to not care where I am going with it and give myself over to it. In painting, one must be able to create and to destroy. The history and the battle that go into the work are visible on the surface. It's a journey, every single painting.
